this is a martial arts instructors response when asked what he learned and how he has grown from teaching through the covid-19 pandemic via virtual martial arts classes in Cumming ga.

No one could’ve predicted that 3 and 1/2 months into the year 2020, that we would be caught in the global pandemic known as COVID-19. While the world around us was ground to a halt, my biggest concern was keeping my students on track with their pursuit to Black Belt.
One of the biggest lessons that I learned as a Martial Artist is to adapt. While the world had the choice to contract, we decided to expand into virtual learning to keep our commitment to our students, even in the face of uncertainty. The result was better than I could have expected. Not only we’re we able to keep our students on track, we were able to promote some of our students to their next belt level, created an entire student resource with multiple pages to help aid in learning techniques and ultimately show that while the world around us was changing, our resolve to help our students and family was unbreakable and unshakable.

While people saw this as a “break”, I viewed it as an awakening; this was Nature’s way of saying that a change was needed, to go out and try something new & to better serve the family I care about. I’m happy to have such a supportive HapKiDo Family, and I can’t wait to see everyone back in action soon.
